The children of Solano Elementary School received an HCNC grant that provided them an organized curriculum connected to the community garden in their neighborhood. Taught by a Master Gardener, the curriculum involved students and teachers in planning, constructing and gardening a tiny “seed to table” orchard.
The students learned math, biologic and earth sciences, practical farming and gardening, and outreach skills to seek further assistance to continue their project. The garden can symbolically, botanically and educationally bridge the community together.
