Solano Canyon

April 2018

The children of Solano Elementary School received an HCNC grant that provided them an organized curriculum connected to the community garden in their neighborhood. Taught by a Master Gardener, the curriculum involved students and teachers in planning, constructing and gardening a tiny “seed to table” orchard.

The students learned math, biologic and earth sciences, practical farming and gardening, and outreach skills to seek further assistance to continue their project. The garden can symbolically, botanically and educationally bridge the community together.

Alicia Brown (1926-2014) FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS
It is with deep sadness that I must inform you that our beloved Mrs. Brown passed away peacefully today January 5, 2014.

Alicia Brown fought for our community for many years. She was a founding member and president of the Solano Avenue Association, active member of the CCSEP, founding member of the community garden, neighborhood council representative and many more title to list.  She was known in City Hall for her tireless efforts on behalf of our community.  Her presence, her wisdom, her tireless enthusiasm will be missed in Solano Canyon.  May she rest in peace.
We thank her for her tireless work.
